A Rough Start: The Search for My Forever Family

I wasn’t always the happy dog you are reading about today. There was a time when I didn’t know where I belonged. I was just a little ball of energy, chewing on rocks (oops, sorry!) and waiting for the right family to find me. My family had a picture of their perfect pup in mind; what they didn’t expect was me. My parents had been searching everywhere for a girl mini Schnauzer and thought they had found the one. But life had other plans; the little girl they had set their hearts on had a serious health condition, leaving them heartbroken, and that’s when a phone call changed everything.

Hello! I’m Teo, a five-year-old miniature Schnauzer with a heart bigger than my love for tennis balls. Here’s my story.

The Gift from God

My family wasn’t expecting me, but when they saw me, everything clicked into place. I was the one they had been waiting for. They had received a video of me eating rocks (funny, right?) and being wild. At that moment, my mum knew I was her dog. I didn’t appear to be a hero then, but that’s what I became.

When I first met my family, my name was Teo, and they adored it. However, when they discovered its meaning, ā€œGift from Godā€, it felt like a sign. Just like that, I became their little hero.

The Unexpected Baby Brother

From the moment I joined their world, I wasn’t just a pet; I was family. I stuck to them like glue, following them on every adventure, from moving homes to exploring new places.

And then, things got even more exciting. I noticed something different about Mum; I knew it before she did. She got pregnant, and like a ā€œVelcro dog,ā€ I stayed by her side, ensuring she was happy and safe. It turned out I was going to be a big brother, and I was so excited. It’s been such an incredible journey watching my family grow, and I’m proud to be the furry brother who’s always there to protect and love. My mum said this is one of her happiest memories.

Living the Dream

I’m not just any dog; I’m an adventurer! My family and I now live in Tallinn, and my life with them is exciting. I’m from Spain, specifically Madrid, and I’ve visited Portugal, Panama, Italy, and Germany with them.

I wake my mum every morning by tapping her arm with my paw. Breakfast time has always been my favourite part of the day. After that, it’s time for a long walk and my ultimate favourite game (fetch) with my beloved tennis ball. Three hundred throws? Bring it on.

After a good weekend workout, I enjoy a delicious late breakfast at home and take a proper Spanish siesta, dreaming of adventures. I may be small, but I’m a master at relaxation and have earned a PhD in deep sleep; trust me, I sleep in positions no other dog attempts. When it’s time to play, I become an Olympic athlete. No one catches a tennis ball as I do.

Mum loves to cuddle with me after our play sessions, sharing our quiet moments, just the two of us. I get to smell her face and feel her love, and if you ask me, I love that more than anything.

Mum said I’ve taught her to slow down and appreciate the little moments. I remind her to laugh, relax, and be in the moment through every silly thing I do. She’s happy I helped her practice caring for another living being unconditionally before my baby brother was born.

Here’s a letter my mum wrote to me that makes my tail wag with joy:

Teo, my baby! I hope you’re always happy by our side! Mommy and Daddy (and baby brother) love you so much! We want all the tennis balls in the world to be yours, and we hope we never, ever run out of nap time cuddles. ā¤ļø I hope we never stop having fun together and that you always know you’re the most beautiful, best dog in the world! We love you, mi Teuchoā¤ļø.

My family and I are a fun bunch on quite the journey together. Mum and Dad have travelled a lot, and I’ve been right by their side, from our adventures in Spain to our new home in Tallinn. Life with my family has been full of joy, love, and adventure. They always say I’m the best dog in the world, but if you ask me, I’m lucky. I’ve found my forever family, and that’s the greatest gift of all.
